Many conditions that once required surgery can now be treated nonsurgically by an Interventional Radiologist. An Interventional Radiologist is a physician who subspecializes in minimally invasive procedures using X-ray (Angiography), Ultrasound, MRI and CT Scan. The VISION of the Department of IR (Interventional Radiology) is to promote the minimally invasive procedures that have less risk, less pain and less recovery time compared to open surgery and become a center of excellence for IR in Iraq. In our PAR hospital and for the first time in whole Iraq, beside biliary and non-vascular interventions, Vascular Interventions in all vascular territories will be performed in a broad, state of art manner.
